Read full description of the books The Day I Wore My Panties Inside Out:I'm so angry that I kept reading this book. Jen Tucker has a master's degree but only a slight grasp on the concept of grammar. The typos are distracting (misspelling "Ferris Bueller" and "Netflix"); subject/verb agreement needs work; the book is missing at least ten commas and three hyphens, conservatively. She goes off on tangents midway through thoughts, but she feels justified in doing so since she warned us early on. There are too many explanation points and words in all caps for a woman of her age and education. You don't have to shout at me. If something is funny, I'll laugh, I promise. If something isn't funny, I won't laugh, no matter how much you try to make it obvious that THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE HILARIOUS ARE YOU READY TO LAUGH OH GOSH YOU'RE GOING TO LAUGH SO HARD! LOLOL
Ma'am, if you're speaking to someone, be it your husband or God or whomever, you need to put a comma before, after, or around their name. I noticed that you don't like to do this.
The straw that broke the camel's back, however, was when she wrote this sentence: "He quits his high paying engineering job in the burbs of Connecticut, moves my mom and I from our quiet cul-de-sac home situated on over two acres of scenic views to Toledo, Ohio." (Tucker, Jen; Colter, Tiffany (2011-11-16). The Day I Wore My Panties Inside Out (Kindle Locations 2236-2237). Writing Career Coach Press. Kindle Edition). Does no one else remember that day in third grade when our teacher taught us about subjective pronounce and objective pronouns? They are very easy. Even if you, as an author, don't remember how to use them, your editor definitely should.
I'll admit, I didn't know what this book was about before I read it. I saw that it was a semifinalist in the Humor section of the Good Reads Top Books of 2011, along with books I actually did enjoy like Tina Fey's Bossypants and Mindy Kaling's Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?.... This book was not written to my demographic (early twenties, single) which should have been obvious to me from the title. Who uses the word "panties" besides mothers and their young daughters?
Read information about the authorJen Tucker has been a Girl Scout cookie schlepper, piano lesson skipper, backstroke award winner, highway U-turn ticket receiver, tattoo envier, Jack Wagner hard-crusher, infomercial addict anonymous member, $13.55 Bingo jackpot winner, Grammy award winning singer Seal stalker with her friend Julie, and never wore stilettos while doing any of the above due to the fact that she has horrible bunions.
She wrote the popular children’s books, Two by Two and Little Pumpkin and now Jen has written her first nonfiction piece. Jen, a proud Boilermaker alumni, lives in West Lafayette, Indiana with her husband Mike and their three children. If Jen had spare time, she would skydive, bake pretty little works of art cupcakes, and sit on her front porch drinking Moscato with her friends. Instead, Jen drives her children to school, still wearing her donut patterned pajamas and promises said children she will not walk on school property with morning breath.
Jen's debut memoir, The Day I Wore my Panties Inside Out, was a 2011 Goodreads Award semifinalist in the humor category.
