Read full description of the books Murder in a Parish Chest:Peggy Pinch, the policeman's wife, is the only one who knows that Tug Macaulay was asleep in his bed when Cedar Wells was murdered. But if Peggy tells the truth, she will not only set tongues wagging but also prove that her husband has put words in the suspect's mouth. Her only way through her dilemma is to identify the real murderer before too many questions are asked.
It's 1926 and there's no more wicked place for gossip than the village Post Office before lunchtime. Choosing her friends carefully Peggy gathers clues from the retired schoolmistress, a peculiar professor and the most unruly child in the village and uncovers the truth beneath the tittle-tattle.
Read information about the authorHey! Weighed down by good wishes and nice comments after the radio broadcast of my latest radio play tonight. (11 May)
Here's a look at the rest of 2017 - as far as I know. The four radio scripts of the first series of Lizzie Waldron's Radio Casebook will be available in book form in the Summer. A further, stand alone, play is scheduled for the autumn. More, later. A mystery novel will be out in time for Christmas. (I am talking to people about new things for 2018 but rather uncertain at the moment.)
I have updated my website; it now includes a page on The Raden Girl: John Buchan's Erotic Heroine,
And you can always dip into a listen on:
As a young man Malcolm served in the Portsmouth Police, a chapter in his life that provides some background to his crime fiction. He has written fifteen mystery novels which follow the characters from the 1920s through to the 1960s. He has hosted his own weekly book programme on local radio, and a series of of his radio theatre plays have been broadcast on fm radio. Press reviews have emphasised the author's sense of place and atmosphere, strong characterisation and first rate storytelling. He has repeatedly been in the top 20% of authors borrowed from UK libraries. Malcolm now lives in Market Harborough where he and his wife run a bookshop.
